I don’t believe that I’ve made a staffing announcement in this blog to date. Every member of our team is a unicorn, so it doesn’t often make sense for me to take a public stand on each new employee; I wouldn’t have time to talk about anything else.
Today, we are being joined by an exceptional talent, so I’m making an exception. I’m excited to announce that Andrew Vouris is joining Unikrn as our Chief Operating Officer.
Andrew was the Deputy COO at Tabcorp — where he was responsible for one of the largest Wagering and Media businesses in the world — and contributed to the team that grew their online business. He has over 10 years in the gambling sector, during which time he was also responsible for retail, digital and online channels and helped grow Tabcorp to a $13 billion company.
We trust Andrew not just because of his accomplishments, but also because of our interwoven histories. He’s been a long-time Unikrn enthusiast and was the link that helped us get our first access to Tabcorp. His team helped Unikrn access Australia and UK betting customers legally, responsibly and effectively. After he left Tabcorp he was actively recruited by big names in global betting operations, but he has chosen to join Unikrn.
Now that UnikoinGold is a real thing, and we’re looking to expand our Live Betting and Skill Betting platform using UKG, we need to move at the speed of a startup while helping regulators navigate and enable this space as soon as possible.
Andrew is going to report directly into me as he leads Wagering and Gaming growth strategies, and helping connect our global offices. The latter can be a particular challenge: we have users in every time zone and now well over 100 countries, offices in Sydney, Berlin, Seattle, Las Vegas and employees everywhere from Michigan to Croatia.
This is part of the restructuring Unikrn is doing to ensure a mammoth roll-out across 2018. We expect to include crypto betting, major product updates, 24-hour and real-time betting in applicable regions, our unencumbered re-entry to Australia and a roll-out of regulated betting across 80% of Europe (for which we’ve already acquired our Malta license).
And that’s just to name a few of our coming improvements.
I am confident that Andrew will not only shine our trophy wagering offerings, but help us maintain a step ahead of any esports wagering competition. Our team is excited to bring him in, and I am confident this is another positive turning point in Unikrn’s history.
Looking back, our successes will surely be rooted in the changes and efforts this team put into 2017, and Andrew will be a towering figure in how we built momentum from those efforts.
In short, he’s the leadership that can guide our singular team to creating the ultimate customer experience.
With that welcome, I now return this feed to its regularly scheduled content. Welcome Andrew, let’s goooooo!
